This railroad marvel took almost 90 years and 90 million dollars to complete. Opened after decades of construction in 1961, the railway was designed to connect the Pacific Ocean with Mexico&#8217;s central desert territory and Chihuahua. During construction the railroad has taken continual steps to reduce the risk of rockslides, including adding chain netting and cement withholding barriers at-steep hillsides along the way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ferrocaril Mexicano<\/strong>, exclusive owners of the <strong>Chihuahua-Pacifico Railway<\/strong>, operates the Copper Canyon railroad cars. Sightseeing tours by rail car through Copper Canyon is unlike any other train journey anywhere else in the world. There are 25,000 square miles of canyons in the <strong>Sierra Madre Mountains<\/strong> of Mexico. Our Bruzzi Vineyards Group will journey through the awesome terrain of the Sierra Madre Occidental Mountain range, passing through canyons, mountains, forests, rivers, waterfalls, and tropical vegetation, encountering the colorful <strong>Tarahumara Indians<\/strong>, the indigenous tribe of this area northwest Mexico.
