DAY 1, SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 12
ARRIVE WEQUASSETT RESORT / WELCOME DINNER
To join this program group members may choose to fly into Boston Logan Airport (code: BOS), Providence RI Airport (PVD) or the smaller and closest Barnstable MA Airport (code: HYA). Our program begins at the Wequassett Resort & Golf Club, our home for the next five nights. Tonight gather for welcome cocktails and dinner with George Blanckensee, Estate Director for Chateau Montelena Winery.(D)
NOTE: Prices for airport transfers are not included. Three different airports access Cape Cod, along with travel by car and rail. Consult with your Expanding Horizons reservations agent to arrange the best possible transfer solution.
DAY 2, MONDAY SEPTEMBER 13
LANDS END & PROVINCETOWN / WINE TASTING
Travel this morning through lower Cape Cod and the National Seashore to Land’s End and Provincetown, site of the first landing by the Pilgrims. The austere landscape of bright sand dunes contrasts with dark green pines and blue ocean. See the Dune Shacks where playwright Eugene O’Neill and poet Harry Kemp plied their craft, as did artist Jackson Pollock and author Norman Mailer. View the Peaked Hill Life Saving Station where heroic brave responders embarked to battle rough seas and gale force winds to rescue shipwrecked mariners. Explore Provincetown’s colorful waterfront, shops and galleries before returning to Wequassett. At 5pm join George Blanckensee for a private tasting of the wines of Chateau Montelena. Dinner is at leisure tonight.(B)
DAY 3, TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 14
WEQUASSETT RESORT AT LEISURE / PAIRED DINNER
Today is at leisure to enjoy the many fun activities this marvelous resort has to offer. Play golf, book a saltwater fishing charter, rent one of the resort’s fine motor or sail boats, or simply relax on the beach or by the pool. Tonight enjoy a special group dinner at renowned the Chillingworth Restaurant. Chef Nitzi Rabin will have an extraordinary menu paired with the wines of Montelena.(B,D)
DAY 4, WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 15
Travel by ferry to Nantucket Island. This small island, for a short period in history, was the whaling capital of the world. Disembarking the ferry there is ample time to enjoy Main Street and the shops and galleries of Nantucket town, followed by lunch. This afternoon choose an activity — bicycling, the Whaling Museum, Jeep Rental or freedom to shop and stroll independently. Return to Wequassett approximately 5pm.Dinner is at leisure tonight. (B,L)
DAY 5, THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 16
OPTIONAL TOURS / LOBSTERBAKE
Today is at leisure for resort activities or optional tours. Your Expanding Horizons escort will assist in getting you wherever you wish to go. Highly recommended is the whale watching trip from nearby Barnstable Harbor out to the Stellwagen Bank, a rich marine feeding ground for enormous humpback, right, fin and blue whales. Our farewell dinner tonight is special and pure Cape Cod. Dine outside (weather permitting) for an authentic New England Lobster bake, a seafood banquet of lobster, scallops, oysters, shrimp and fall vegetables, paired with the wines of Chateau Montelena.(B,D)
DAY 6, FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 17
DEPART WEQUASSETT RESORT / FAREWELL CAPE COD
After breakfast bid adieu to your Cape Cod Castaway mates. Pre-arranged airport transfers (not included) can be booked through your Expanding Horizons reservations agent.
Disabilities and Wheelchairs
Persons with a walking disability or an injury, or who require a wheelchair/scooter or other mobility devices, must have another dedicated person traveling with them to assist/push, etc. Expanding Horizons staff and other guests are not available to assist persons with limited mobility. On customized tour programs, the Expanding Horizons tour manager is authorized to remove or ask to leave from the tour, any traveler incapable of, unwilling to, or impeding the overall movement and progress of the tour group.
