Posada del Hidalgo is a beautiful colonial mansion with 54 guest rooms. This attractive structure was built in 1890 by Don Rafael Almada, a wealthy and influential “alcalde” (mayor) who spent five years and 100,000 gold pesos on its construction. The mansion’s wooden trim was made from 285 Canadian red pine beams with beautiful iron work, creating the largest and most beautiful structure in El Fuerte. Each air-conditioned room is decorated in traditional Mexican style with wood beams and tile floors, fitted with a hair dryer, TV and garden view.
