Schweiger Vineyards

In May of 2015, I traveled with M.A. Silva to observe the cork harvest and tour the Douro region. During the trip, I brought some of the Schweiger Port XV with me to share with Portuguese winemakers. They were so impressed that a year later, I was conferred into the Knights of Portugal and carry the diplomatic title of Caballero. Out of respect to the hardworking Portuguese winemakers, Schweiger Vineyards also willingly gave up our grandfathered right to use the protected place name of Porto, changing the name of this wine to Iteration.

In November of 2026, we invite you to accompany us for this “Bucket List” trip to Portugal. This once-in-a-lifetime program combines a 4-night land tour, staying three nights in Lisbon and one night in Porto before our 7-night Douro cruise. We’ll see the sights of Lisbon, the mountaintop castles of Sintra, miraculous Fatima, the university city of Coimbra, and enjoy a serene night in beautiful Porto. This is a relaxing and leisurely introduction to Portugal before boarding our 7-night Douro River cruise aboard the luxurious ship AmaDouro. If that’s not enough, you can cap off the trip exploring the Basque region of Spain on an optional post cruise tour.
