Ireland has thirty-two different counties, twenty-six in the Republic of Ireland and six in Northern Ireland. Around the entire Irish coast are some of the world’s finest links-style golf courses, played on sandy soils with firm conditions and excellent drainage. Most links courses are seaside, with holes both along the ocean and with ocean views.Strong breezes are synonymous with links golf.

While the birthplace of golf is Scotland, the sport in Ireland has a rich and colorful history dating back to the mid-1800s.Today there are some 300 golf courses in Ireland. The interior has a wide variety of parkland courses, plentiful with trees and water hazards. Many of Ireland’s oldest links courses are still around, including the historical tracks of Donegal and Northern Ireland designed by Old Tom Morris himself in the late 19th century. On this special tour we shall play 8 of the best and/or most interesting courses found across Ireland’s north.

This tour and cumulative competition is dedicated to playing golf in the purest sense, by the rules on historic links courses. And because men will be men, combined with golf play are private tours and tastings at three remarkable distillers of Irish whiskey, and the Guinness Brewery in Dublin. This is a “bucket list” experience, a special excursion into golf heaven for players who have worked hard and deserve a bit of quality recreation before leaving this earth.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a boys only trip, planned with no malice aforethought against the fairer and wiser sex; our beloved wives, girlfriends, mothers, daughters and family members. This is a purely for fun, once-in-a-lifetime men’s golfing excursion of the highest quality. While some may question the wisdom of this exercise, our activities will be well documented and highly enjoyable.

This May 2022 “Golf Across the North” Ireland tour is limited to 24 players, friends and acquaintances of Tom Friedrich, Kieron Keady and the 18 strong and true lads on our 2018 “Golf in the Kingdom” tour of Scotland.
