This sailing is a collaborative effort by two remarkable California-based hosts from the world of food and wine. Dave and Louis Solzman own and operate Delius Restaurant in Signal Hill, CA. Mike & Cheri Sinor are proprietors of Sinor-Lavallee Wines in San Luis Obispo, CA. Mike is a renowned winemaker, who also serves as Director of Winemaking for well-known Ancient Peaks Winery. This food and wine tasting tour combines a 7 night voyage up the Douro River, followed by a 4 night tour of Spain’s Duero wineries and Madrid. Special events will be included throughout the journey for our guests.
MIKE & CHERI SINOR
Mike Sinor is recognized as one of the Central Coast’s highest-rated winemakers, having created multiple 92-96 point wines endorsed by every major USA wine publication. His winemaking career on the Central Coast spans more than 20 years. At Ancient Peaks Winery, Mike directs the quality and style of the wines, and he also oversees viticulture practices at the winery’s estate, Margarita Vineyard. His first complete vintage with Ancient Peaks was 2006.
Mike married Cheri LaVallee in 1996, and they launched their own label five years later. In 2013, they put everything on the line to acquire the ocean-view Bassi Vineyard near Avila Beach. It was the location they’d been seeking—a singular vineyard that they could steward with holistic and meticulous viticulture.
The smooth estate wines of Sinor-LaVallee are the outcome of this journey, and an emblem of this place.
DAVE & LOUISE SOLZMAN
The husband and wife culinary team extraordinaire behind Delius Restaurant in Signal Hill CA. Louise is from England and Executive Chef. Dave, a Californian, is General Manager and Wine Director. For the past 20 years the couple has been at the forefront of the greater Long Beach CA culinary scene.
They met in the early nineties working aboard the luxury cruise ship, Crystal Harmony. Returning to life on land, they settled in Southern California and purchased Delius. Louise has collected numerous culinary awards over the years. She specializes in prix fixe dining and high end catering, with impeccable timing and attention to detail. Louise loves to give cooking demonstrations in the restaurant and on the many cruises that she and Dave have hosted.
Dave Solzman caught the wine bug in the late 1980’s. His love of the grape has evolved to teaching classes, hobnobbing with Master Sommeliers and becoming an expert of wines from around the globe.
