Travel Entry Requirements

Travel entry requirements continue to change, so please check with your airline for updates as they can provide you with requirements specific to your country of entry. Travelers are also responsible for ensuring they meet the travel entry requirements of each country visited during travel program.

Additional Travel Requirement for Entry into New Zealand:

For US citizens traveling to New Zealand, a valid passport (with at least three months' validity beyond your exit date), a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA), and a completed New Zealand Traveller Declaration are required. You must also have proof of funds and a return or onward ticket. The NZeTA and Traveller Declaration can be completed online before your trip, and you'll need to pay an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) when you apply for the NZeTA.

Before you travel

  • Passport: Ensure your passport is valid for at least three months after your planned date of departure from New Zealand.
  • NZeTA: As US citizens are from a visa-waiver country, you must apply for an NZeTA for tourism or business trips. Apply online, provide a headshot or selfie, and have it approved at least 72 hours before your travel date. (Currently NZD$ 17 - approx. USD$ 10* - if you apply through the free mobile New Zealand app; otherwise, NZD$ 23 - approx. USD$ 13.5* - online.)
  • IVL: The International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) is required for most visitors and is assessed when you apply for your NZeTA. (Currently NZD$100 per person – approx. USD$ 58)
  • New Zealand Traveller Declaration: Complete this digital declaration online within 24 hours of starting your journey to New Zealand.
  • Return or onward ticket: You must be able to show proof that you will leave New Zealand at the end of your stay.
  • Proof of funds: You should have enough money to cover your living expenses while in New Zealand.
