Polemonium Wines
Polemonium Wines was founded in 2023 by winemakers Ryan Rech and Taylor Harris, bringing together more than 30 years of combined experience across Napa Valley, Sonoma, Knights Valley, Australia, and New Zealand.
Our name comes from Polemonium Eximium, a rare alpine wildflower, found above 12,000 feet in California’s Eastern Sierra. Reaching it takes determination, patience, and respect for the mountains. We chose the name because great wine reflects the same spirit: the best rewards come from hard work, passion, and the willingness to take the difficult path. If we don’t believe a wine we create is exceptional, it never reaches the bottle. Today we’ve crafted a broad range of varietals, from everyday wines to iconic, 100-point bottlings from some of the world’s most celebrated vineyards.
Outside the cellar, we spend our time skiing, climbing, trail running, kayaking, CrossFit, yoga, fishing and exploring the mountains.
Meet the Winemakers
Ryan earned his degree in Enology from Fresno State before holding winemaking and leadership roles at R.H. Phillips, Chateau St. Jean, and Beringer, where he served as Head Winemaker and GM.
Taylor studied Plant Sciences at UC Davis before pursuing her passion for wine at Gundlach Bundschu, New Zealand, Alpha Omega, J.H. Wine Consulting, and Beringer, where she and Ryan worked together before launching Polemonium.
Join us for this once-in-a-lifetime program that combines a 4-night land tour, staying three nights in Lisbon and one night in Porto before our 7-night Douro cruise. We’ll see the sights of Lisbon, the mountain top castles of Sintra, miraculous Fatima, the university city of Coimbra and enjoy a relaxed night in beautiful Porto. This is a relaxed and leisurely introduction to Portugal before boarding our 7-night Douro River cruise aboard the luxurious ship AmaDouro.
